It only took hearing a single track over the phone for Ocean Colour Scene‘s Steve Cradock to be convinced he’d struck upon an exciting new talent. With a voice and skill which belies her years, North London songwriter Yasmin Kiddle‘s latest tracks are timely in their release to accompany a small tour of Scottish arenas with the icons of 90’s rock themselves!
For Yasmin, music has been a passion from an early age. Influenced by the music she grew up listening to – not just soul legends like Minnie Ripperton and Aretha Franklin, but also 60s rock bands and contemporary R&B and grime tracks, she’s honed her skills on a variety of instruments, and later in music production in a makeshift studio in her bedroom.

Following on from her critically acclaimed EP – ‘The Precede‘, her new collection of tracks is an achingly dreamy selection of modern soul melodies and beats with the stature and intelligence of artists like Janis Joplin and Carole King. Preceded by the single ‘Desire‘ (set for release 29th July), whose rhythms feel ready-made for the current heatwave, the EP Soul Tide is another step towards Yasmin becoming one of the fastest rising stars in the UK scene.
