Christmas this year may be hectic for all, but this 8-year-old has made it her mission to raise awareness for those suffering this festive period.
Elle has already gained recognition from her efforts to help those struggling in her hometown of Southampton last year, with her story being covered by ITV in August of 2019.
As shown in the article, the young girl brought food and social interaction to those who needed it on her own doorstep, but she didn’t stop there.
This Christmas, Elle wants to spread the word of her mission to everyone in the UK by releasing a single, to raise both awareness and funds that will go to the charity ‘Shelter’ in order to help people across the country.
The musical creation was made possible due to Elle’s hairdresser Saab Vancootan – also a songwriter – who, after hearing of Elle’s kindness, offered to help with the use of a song she had written about her own family’s struggles at Christmas time.
Not only is Christmas a hard time for those who find themselves homeless, with 2020 bringing additional restrictions and changes to how the public can interact with each other, some are struggling now more than ever and are in desperate need of the British public’s help.
Enter Elle & Saab, then, with their heartfelt song designed to make all of us think about those less fortunate than us and offer a way everyone can help out.
‘It’s Christmas’ is an emotive dedication to all those who may find themselves hard done by during the holidays. Its message compounded by raising money for the incredible work Shelter carries out all year round, and through the kindness of a young person with the desire to help others, which particularly shines through the hardships of this unusual year.
“I just hope this song makes people think about homeless people this Christmas. It must be horrible to live on the streets, and I just want to try and help them more if I can. Thank you to everyone who supports this fundraising campaign.” – Elle
Why not give something back this Christmas by giving this lovely little holiday tune a listen?
